CPR, ACLS, and PALS Training Information

AHA Aligned Instructor LogoAs of March 1, 2009 the Ocean City ~ Wright Fire Control District has become a certified American Heart Association Training Site! This allows our department to teach lifesaving skills such as CPR, First Aid, and use of an AED. Training opportunities are available to the public and follow the standards set forth by the American Heart Association. CPR can make the difference between the life and death of a loved one. It can double or even triple a cardiac arrest victim’s chance of survival!

The American Heart Association is a worldwide leader in first aid, CPR, and AED training – educating more than 22 million people globally in CPR each year. Click here for more interesting statistics and facts.

The Ocean City-Wright Fire Control District is an authorized American Heart Association Training Site. Our Training Site and all of our AHA Instructors are aligned with the Northwest Florida State College in Niceville, FL as our American Heart Association Training Center.

We offer CPR and First Aid Training courses for healthcare professionals, the general public, and the general community. The healthcare professional course audience consists of doctors, nurses, EMT’s, paramedic’s, first responders and anyone else who may require a completion card for their job. Courses for the general public are intended for those who need a course completion card for their job and have little to no medical training. These classes are perfect for childcare workers, health & fitness instructors, construction workers and more. We also offer classes for people who simply want to learn CPR and a course completion card is not required.

Instructor-Led Classroom Training

In Person Teaching Choking Victim

100% classroom training means students are with an AHA Instructor for their entire learning experience. These classroom courses are a good option for students who learn most effectively in a classroom environment with other students. These courses are taught by our training staff and firefighters who are not only AHA Instructors, but they have invaluable real world experience. They teach the cognitive learning portion of the course, provide realistic hands-on skills practice, and administer the required testing.

Classroom Registration begins here.

The American Heart Association’s blended learning option combines the cognitive learning portion with the hands-on skills session, but it is at your own pace. This eLearning option is perfect for those with a busy schedule since it offers the flexibility of completing the course at your own pace. You must however, also complete a hands-on skills session to obtain a course completion card. Your skill competency must be verified and tested with an AHA Instructor within 60 days of completing the online portion.

Hands-On Skills Sessions

The American Heart Association’s eLearning course’s allow for flexibility so you can learn at your own pace and on your own schedule. To reinforce your learning and ensure you have the required skills, all psychomotor skills must be verified and tested before you receive a course completion card. Before we can schedule a hands on skills testing session, we must first receive and verify your certificate of completion of the online portion of the training.

We offer a variety of skills session courses and schedule them Monday through Friday, they are only provided on a as-needed basis.
